“ALL-IN-ONE”

A piece that seeks to demonstrate how each dancer's individuality propels the evolution of a better whole. “ALL-IN-ONE” attempts to illustrate how each dancer's origins, personal history, particular training, strengths, and weaknesses help form the unique unity that is the dance community. The piece urges the dancers to unite and meld together to create the amalgam specific to the dance community, but also to the flavor of modern Quebec society. Based on his own personal experience, choreographer Andy Michel reflects on individual evolution and development through his artistic journey. It begins with a rather abstract tableaux towards a fusion of urban and contemporary dance, then on to traditional and commercial hip hop. It ends with dancehall and afro in which Andy seeks to honor his Congolese roots.
