Friidom & The Epiic Movement (Krump Fusion , Los Angeles,Ca)
“Stimulus Et Reparations”
As a BIPOC movement artist, Friidoms’ mission has been to transcend the thought of what a “Street Dancer” is and could be through music and movement. This piece was crafted during the year of the Pandemic 2020. Friidom had two elders pass while in isolation, plus with the grim reality of America at the forefront, Stimulus Et Reparations was born. A part of a 20-track soundscape work he made in his home with his laptop and reflections of the past, Friidom and the Epiic Movement will move to express the position, pain, & the deep revelation of that year.

(Special thanks to the Creative Work Fund and Trent Diamantine for making this collaboration possible.)

INQ (Hip Hop Fusion, Oakland,Ca)
“Bloom”
An experience about the passing of time. During quarantine, Rocko stared at a tree outside his apartment all year. It’s the thing that helped him keep track of time moving. “Bloom” will express chapters of life and love, phases of a relationship, even music passing through 70 years of styles and eras. Each season will read as a mini vignette and the tree as an interstitial transition to show the passing of time.

“Church en Corps (Part 1)
A play mainly on the representation of two ways, materialized by their two bodies and their ways of evolving. The two ways will, by moments, move away and differ. At other times, they will come closer and unite. Attraction-Repulsion; Similarity- Differentiality; Known-Unknown; Contradiction-Concordance. It is with these tensions that they play and that they create their ways of apprehending situations physically. And it is these games, these processes and sometimes these results, that they want to share as research process with the public.

Versa-Style Dance Company (All styles, Los Angeles,Ca)
“Rebirth/Spirit of The Bones”
This is an excerpt from Versa-Style’s latest full-length work, “Freemind Freestyle,” consists of high–energy, unadulterated Hip Hop movement that explores the depths of improvisational dance. Using Streetdance vernacular such as Locking, Popping, Hip Hop and Krump as vehicles of expression, no show will be the same, as each night will offer a brand new experience of FREESTYLE Streetdance live on stage. Audiences will walk away with a visceral immersion into Hip Hop dance culture. The work dives into the concept of freedom from all angles: the personal, the political, the physical, and the spiritual. How do we experience freedom? What contains us, oppresses us, and what ultimately allows us to break free? “Freemind Freestyle” explores these questions from both the evolutionary and ancestral lens, blending cutting-edge Hip Hop, Popping, and Krump movement with traditional House dance that pays homage to the Afro-Latin roots of Hip Hop.
Danced to sonic remixes of Hip Hop, classical, and electronic music, the work calls upon each dancer in the diverse company to draw upon his and her own personal experience of freedom, and express this inner battle through the rich vocabulary of Streetdance.

“Cherche en Corps” (Part 2)
“We saw the conception of this show as a blank sheet of paper on which we could express ourselves. Through this blank sheet of paper, we found the opportunity to propose a subject of reflection on something that seems to touch us all: research. Finally, throughout our lives we all seem to follow a process, a path similar to research, the search for a purpose. This search for purpose will result in the pursuit of studies, the construction of a professional career, or more or less defined projects. But what is this purpose, what are we really looking for? Happiness? Better living conditions? A way of life more respectful of our environment? It is difficult, at first, to become aware of what we are really looking for. By dancing, we explore and expose this reflection for ourselves, and for our spectators. This imprecise and constant search is therefore the theme of “Cherche en Corps”.”
Choreography– Ouili Nana and Raphaël Saint-Laurent
Music– Bill Evans, Alfa Mist, Yussef Dayes, Harrison BDP, Os Tincoas
Dancers– Ouili Nana and Raphaël Saint-Laurent
Friidom & The Epiic Movement (Krump Fusion, Los Angeles,Ca)
“Exiistence: The 3rd Movement”
Friidom began the Epiic movement 7 years ago before coming to Los Angeles. The idea was to be like Willy Wonka in the way of curating a world of movement that could bridge divides amongst people through movement philosophy. This piece reflects at the heart of why this cinematic based dance genre was crafted through the musical works of Hans Zimmer; one of Hollywood’s most prolific composers. Here we see the merger of movement & movie.
Choreography– Darrel ‘Friidom’ Dunn
Music– Hans Zimmer
